Stephen Mrozik, LMFT
Stephen Mrozik is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who received his Bachelor Degree in Psychology from Stony Brook University and his Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Hofstra University.
During his Master’s program, he worked in multiple systems through Hofstra’s Saltzman Community Services Center and the Nassau County Family Mediation Program. Steve ran community outreach groups teaching parenting skills and a men’s support group to help with coping skills and communication. Through the Family Mediation program, he worked with youth and their families that were involved in the juvenile justice system to prevent these youth from further involvement with the court. Steve continued this work with at-risk youth in the PINS Diversion program. Eventually this work led him to the HCBS program to provide in-home mental health services ranging from counseling to community advocacy for youth at-risk of removal from their homes due to mental health concerns. He has most recently been working with clients in a private practice setting.
Steve has experience working with: children, adolescents, adults, couples and families through his extensive training in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Gottman Therapy, Structural Family Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. He is currently also working toward a certification in DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and is continually looking to expand his education to best help his clients.
Steve believes that everyone is capable of change, and that the key to it is for clients to take command of their lives. His role as a therapist involves teaching skills and techniques to allow clients to challenge their perceptions and create the life they desire.
